ABSTRACT:

Four new chelates of Ni (II) have been synthesised with ∝-thionaphthoic hydrazide as primary and picolinic acid as coligand. The elemental analyses suggested the formulae [M(∝-Th H) (pic)X] (where ∝-Th H= ∝-thionaphthoic hydrazide, pic=deprotonated picolinic acid and X=CI, Br, I and NO3) for the isolated compounds. The low conductance value (2.0-6.0 ohm-1 cm2 mol∝) in DMF (10-3 M soln.) shows their non-electrolytic nature.
