ABSTRACT:

Formation constants of binary complexes of Cu (II), Ni (II), Co (II) and Zn (II) and ternary complexes of Ni (II) with 4-amino picolinic acid N-oxide and L ( L= glycine, α-alanine , proline, hydroxyproline, phenylalanine and catechol) as secondary ligands have been determined potentiometrically at different temperatures and at constant ionicstrength. The effect of various ionic strengths at constant temperature on the stability constants of binary systems has also been studied. All these metal ions form 1:1 and 1: 2 binary complexes and 1: 1 : 1 ternary complexes with 4- amino picolinic acid N-oxide. Thermodynamic parameters ( G, H, S) of these complexes have been determined and discussed. The Stabilities of ternary complexes are compared with stabilities of binary complexes of secondary ligands and discussed.
