ABSTRACT:

Trie presences of two sesquiterpenes, tetraneurin-C and tetraneurin-D have detected from P. hysterophorus from India for the first time. Ratio of the major sesquiterpene lactones parthcniun and cronopolin is very high in capitulum in the poona region where high rate of allergy has been reported. Significantly the pollens of Parthenium plant contain all the constituent sesquiterpene lactones which may be the cause of allergic rhinitis.
