Syntheses and Spectral Studies of Some Flavanone Derivatives

ABSTRACT:

A variety of flavanone - 4- phenyl - 3 -thiosemicarbazoncs (13-31) have been synthesised by the interaction of fla vanone hydrazones (9-12) with aryl isothiocyanates and independently from flavanones (1-4) and aryl thiosemicarbazides. Reaction of flavanones (5-8) with p-N~acetyl sulphanilyl hydrazide afforded in some cases azines (40-43) in addition to normal condensation product 4-(acetylamino) benzene sulphonic acid (2, 3-dihydro-2-phenyl-4H-1 -benzopyran-4-ylden) hydrazides (32-39). Structures have been confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral data. The compounds thus synthesised have been evaluated for some of their biological activities.
