Novel Spectrophotometric Method for the Determination of Cephalosporin Antibiotic in Pharmaceutical Dosage Form

ABSTRACT:

A simple sensitive and reproducible spectrophotometric method is developed for the determination cefpirome sulfate in bulk and dosage forms. This method is based on the formation of colour species by reacting cefpirome sulfate with ferric chloride in Conc. HCl to produce yellow coloured solution (lmax at 440 nm). Results of analysis was validated statistically and by recovery studies. This method is successfully employed for the determination of cefpirome sulfate in various pharmaceutical preparations.
