ABSTRACT:

Prochiral allylic phosphine oxide (6) and 4-diphenylphosphinoylbutane-1, 2-diol (7) were successfully and conveniently prepared. The synthetic methodology was to start with methyl diphenylphosphine oxide (3) which lithiated by n-BuLi at -78°C and then treated with allyl bromide to give prochiral allylic phosphine oxide (6). This prochiral allylic phosphine oxide was treated with OsO4, DHQ2PHAL and NMO in t-BuOH to give the chiral 4-diphenylphosphinoylbutane-1, 2-diol (7). The synthesized products are served as excellent inhibitors in the medium of 15% H2SO4 on API 5L 52X steel.
