ABSTRACT:

New complexes of MM’(SCN)4 (M=Co2+, Ni2+ , M1= Cd2+ , Hg2+) with N,N’Bis (salicylidene)-1,2-phenylendiamine, Schiff base, have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment, IR, 1H-NMR and electronic spectral studies. The softness parameters, DTEn1 of complexes have also been calculated to derive the possible binding site of the thiocyanate ligand. The complexes have also been investigated for insecticidal activity against Red cottonbug (Dysdercus koenigii). Complexes are found more potent than Schiff base.
