ABSTRACT:

Acid hydrolysis of fully methylated seed polysaccharide of Bauhinia racemosa (Leguminosae) gave methyl sugars as 2, 3, 4, 6-tetra -o-methyl-D-galactose: 2, 3, 6 -tri -O-methyl -D-mannosa; 2, 3-di-O-methyl - D - mannosa in the molar ratio of 3.12 : 0.98 : 2.90. On the basis of above methylated results a chemical structure has been assigned to the seed polysaccharide.

KEYWORDS:

Bauhinia racemosa; seed polysaccharide; methylated sugar
