ABSTRACT:

A stability indicating high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method was developed for the assay of venelafaxine in bulk form and solid dosage formulations .The HPLC separation was achieved on a lichrospher C-18 column using mobile phase of acetonitrile-phosphate buffer (50:50, v/v, pH 6.8) at a flow rate of 1ml/min and UV detection at 224nm.The method was validated for lineareity, solution stability, accuracy and precision. The detector response for venelafaxine was linear over the selected concentration range from 1-8 μg/ml with a correlation coefficient of 0.9999. Forced degradation studies showed that, the drug was clearly degraded in acidic condition and slightly degraded in basic and neutral conditions. The developed method is simple, accurate, precise and stability indicating. Hence, the method is recommended for routine quality control analysis.
