ABSTRACT:

In the present paper 1-H-3-(2-hydroxy-3,4-benzophenyl)-5-(substituted phenyl-2-pyrazolines (Ia,b) were dissolved in DMSO-I2 system and on reflux gave 1-H-3-(2-hydroxy-3,4-benzophenyl)-5-(substituted phenyl)-2-pyrazoles (IIa, b). Pyrazoles (IIa, b) on reaction with acetic acid gave 1-acetyl derivatives of pyrazoles (IIIa, b). Pyrazolies (IIa, b) on reaction with benzoyl chloride in pyridine gave 1-benzoyl derivatives of pyrazole (IVa, b). Similarly pyrazoles on reaction with sodium nitrate in HCl gave 1-nitroso derivatives of pyrazoles (Va, b). The structures were established on the basis of spectral data (IR, NMR) and chemical reactions. Physical characterization data of synthesized compounds is given in Table 1. Antimicrobial activities of synthesized compounds were tested against test organisms and reported in Table -2.
