ABSTRACT:

The intense in the research activity on the synthesis and study of the physical and chemical properties of the transition metal complexes containing diatomic free radical nitric oxide molecule is on the increase. Of great interest is the discovery that, in some of the metal complexes, the coordinated nitrosyl molecule itself undergoes chemical reactions behaving either as an electrophile or nucleophile. This interest has been whetted by the fact that the endogenously produced NO and NOH molecular species play central roles in numerous vital biological systems. This paper gives a comprehensive review of the reactivity of coordinated NO molecule.
