ABSTRACT:

3-[(2,6-Dimethyl-4-quinolinyl)amino] phenol (DQAP) used as a coupling component was prepared by the condensation of 2,6-dimethyl-4-chloroquinoline (I) and 3-aminophenol. Sixteen DQAP based disperse dyes (IIIa-p) were prepared by coupling (II) with various diazo components (Ra-p). The compounds (IIIa-p) were characterized by elemental ad spectral analyses and their dyeing performance on polyester fabric was assessed. These compounds gave yellow, orange, brown and pink shades with poor to fairly good light fastness, good light fastness, good to excellent wash fastness and 71% to 64% exhaustion.
