Synthesis and Characterization of Nine Coordinated Lanthanides (Iii) Metal Ion Complexes of 4[N(P-Methoxybenzalidene)-Amino] Antipyrine Thiosemicarbazone

ABSTRACT:

Some nine-coordinated complexes of lanthanide(III) with 4[N-(p-methoxybenzalidene)amino] antipyrine thiosemicarbazone (MBAAPTS) were prepared. The complexes have the general composition LnX3.2(MBAAPTS) (Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy or Ho; X = Cl or NCS). The structure and bonding of the compounds of nine-coordination were established with the help of elemental analysis, molar conductance, molecular weight, magnetic susceptibility, infrared and electronic spectral studies. The thermal stabilities of these compounds were also studied by thermogravimetric analysis.
