Stereochemical Studies on Cobalt(Ii) Complexes of Semicarbazone and Thiosemicarbazone on Furfuraldehyde and Thiophenealdehyde

ABSTRACT:

Co(II) complexes of general composition CoL2X2 (Where X = Cl-, CH3COO-, NCS, NO3 and SO4-2, L= [(Furan semicarbazone) FSC, (Thiophene semicarbazone) TSC, (Thiophenthio- semicarbazone) TTSC, (Furan thiosemicarbazne) FTSC] have been prepared and characterised by elemental analysis, molar conductance, IR, electronic and EPR spectral studies. Chloro, thiocyanato and acetato complexes with all the ligands were found to have six coordinated octahedral geometry. Five coordinated geometry may be assign for sulphato complexes and tetrahedral for Co (FTSC)2 (NO3)2.
