ABSTRACT:

An attempt has been made in the present work to estimate the concentration of chloride ion present in the sugarcane industrial effluent and to remove the chloride ion by activated carbon obtained from Date Palm Arabia nut. The activated carbon is processed and collected from the waste material-Date Palm Arabia nut. The physical and chemical characteristics of the activated carbon are thoroughly and extensively studied using standard methods. Having established the characteristics of this activated carbon, it is subjected to the removal of chloride ion from sugarcane industrial effluent. This process of removal of chloride ion by the activated carbon derived from Date Palm Arabia nut is an economical and environmental friendly one.
