ABSTRACT:

A field experiment was conducted J.N.K.V.V. Jabalpur (M.P.) during Rabi season of 1997-98 at Krishi Nagar farm, to study the ''Effect of herbicides alone and in combination on weed control efficiency and yield of wheat. The highest weed control efficiency was recorded in post-emergence application of 2,4-D 0.5 kg/ha (83.51%) followed by application of isoproturen 1.0 kg/ha plus 2,4-D 0.25 kg/ha (80.5%). Among the application of post-emergence herbicides alone, 2,4-D 0.5 kg/ha produced significanctly higher grain yield than metsulfuron 4g/ha and isoproturon 1.0 kg/ha. The growth and yield attributing parameters were higher with post emergence application of 2,4-D (0.5 kg/ha) and were significantly at par with pre-emergence application of isoproturon 1.0 kg/ha plus post emergence 2,4-D 0.25 kg/ha and post emergence application of iso-proturon 1.0 kg/ha plus 2,4-D 0.25 kg/ha."
