ABSTRACT:

Copolymers of 8-quinolinyl methacrylate (8-QMA) with Methyl acrylate (MA) and Vinyl acetate (VAc) were synthesised with different feed ratio using dimethyl formamide (DMF) as a solvent and 2,2’-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator at 70°C by solution copolymerization. The copolymers were characterized by IR-spectroscopy. Copolymer compositions were determined by UV-spectroscopy. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) was used for determining the molecular weights (Mn and Mw) and the polydispersity index. The intrinsic viscosities of copolymers were also discussed. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) of copolymers were performed in static air atmosphere whereas differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of the copolymers were also discussed. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) of copolymers were performed in static air atmosphere whereas differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of the copolymers carried out at a 10°C/min. heating rate in nitrogen atmosphere.
