A New Reagent System for Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron in Pharmaceutical Samples

ABSTRACT:

In the present work the authors describe a rapid, accurate and simple spectrophotometry method for the determination of iron in pharmaceutical samples based on the formation of coloured complexes with 1-(2', 5'-dichloro=4'-sulphophrnyl)-3-methyl-4-azo-(2"-carboxy-5"sulphonic acid)- 5-pyrazolone [4-DCSMACSP] reagent. The method is free from the interference of a large number of foreign ions and applicable for the routine determination of iron in pharmaceutical samples.
