Triorgano Lead (IV) Complexes With N-and O-Donor Ligands

ABSTRACT:

Some novel six co-ordinate triorgano lead (IV) complexes with N- andO-donal ligands are reported. The derivatives of triorgano lead (IV) complexes of monobasic tridentate triazene-1 -oxides were obtained an ethanolic medium under reflux for about 4 hrs. The crude products were recrystallised from acetone. The complexes we re characterised by (i) elemental analysis, (ii) conductance measurements in nitromethane, (iii) molecular complexities in freezing benzene, (iv) I.R. spectral studies in Cs I discs in the range 200 - 4000 cm 'and (v) PMR studies. The complexes isolated conform to the stoichiometry R,PbT(TH«iiionobaste to-dentate tnazene-1-oxides). The conductance values ranged from 3.1 to 7.1,indicating non-electrolytic nature of complexes and the molecular weight determination show that the complexes are monomers. The co¬ordination through N- and O-donor atom s we re confirm ed from I.R. spectral data and identification ofPb-Nand Pb-0 bands. The PMR studies showed that the N-CH3 resonance of the free ligands at 390 cos (100Mc,TMs as internal standard) where as in the R3 (PbT complexes there appeared two widely separated signals at 321 and 393 cps with the intensity ratio 2:1. The 0-CH3 resonance of the free ligand showed up at229 cps white for the corresponding complexes it split up into two peaks at 229 and 239 cps again m the intensity rabo 2:1. These data confirm the engagement of O- and N-donor groups in co-ordination with lead.
