Gerberinol: A New Synthesis

ABSTRACT:

The synthesis of 4-hydroxy-5-methylcoumarin (lid) is described, (lId) affords gerberinol -I (IIId) on treatment with formaldehyde, which is identical (mmp and Co-IR) with an authentic sample (IIId).
