ABSTRACT:

A γ-oxoacid, β-(-2-naphthoyl) acrylic acid has been condensed with various phenolic compounds in presence of concentrated sulphuric acid.The condensation products are butenolactones.Structures of these new compounds have been of established on the basis of elemental analysis,chemical reactions and spectral studies.
