ABSTRACT:

The bisazo disperse dyes of the type 4'4H-[Bis-(2-methyl-6-amino-4-oxoquinazoline)] benzanilide have been systhesised by nitration of N-acetyl anthranilic acid and cyclization with acetic anhydride, condensation of the product with diamino benzanilide, reduction of the product with sodium sulphide gave the above product which on tetrazotisation and coupling with various components. Dyeing properties of the dyes on polyester fibre was assessed. All the dyes showed fair to excellent fastness properties. These dyes were characterised by elemental analysis, IR spectra.
