ABSTRACT:

3-Phenyl-4-(N-o-anisyl)-N-(2-arylthioureido)-4'-azido-s-triazine-6'-yl) amino)benzo (6,7-b) courmarins were synthesised by the condensation of 2- (o-anisidide)-3-hydroxy naphthalene with phenyl acetic acid using phosphorous oxychloride as condensing agent followed by treatment with alkali. The resulting product. 3-phenyl-4- (o-anisidino) benzo (6,7-b) coumarin was condensed with cyanuric chloride followed by sodium azide and then with ary Ithiourea derivatives separately gave the desired compounds. These compounds were applied as flourescent brighteners on polyester fibres and gave excellent results.
