ABSTRACT:

A new synthesis of five new flavanones i.e., 6-methyl, 6-chloro, 6-bromo, 6-chloro-7-methyl and 6,8-dichloro-2-(1-naphthyl) chromanone starting from the respective isomeric chalcones prepared by Claisen-Schmidt condensation of substituted 2'-hydroxy acetophenones with 1- naphthaldehyde was carried out. The structure were confirmed by elemental, IR and PMR analysis.
