From the methanolic extract of the aerial parts of Sonchus oleraceus a novel disaccharide, β D-cry throfuranosyl-( 1 - 5)- ∝-D- glucopyranoside, was isolated and characterized by spectroscopic methods (1HNMR 13CNMR and MS).
