ABSTRACT:The plant Echinops echinatus Roxb (compositae) is distributed through out India and various medicinal properties are attributed to it in Indian system of medicine1,2. A systematic chemical investigation of this plant yielded two triterpenes, flavone, flavone glucoside and two novel acyl flavone glycosides3 in addition to β-sitosterol, its glucoside and the previously reported* alkane, alkanol, lupeol and β-amyrin. The occurrence of above two triterpenes, flavone and flavone glucoside is being reported here for the first time.
