ABSTRACT:

A series of 2-styryl-3-aryl-4-oxo-5,6-tetramethylenethieno [ 2,3-d ] pyrimidines have been synthesized (V1-20). Condensation of 2-methyl-4-oxo-5,6-tetramethylenthieno [ 3,1 ] oxazine with certain heteroaromatic amines afforded the corresponding thienopyrimidone derivatiyes (VI1,2). Some compounds have been pharmacologically screened for their hypnotic activity.
