Synthesis of Flavanone and Flavone Thiosemicarbazones

A brief historical account of thiosemicarbazones and thiosemicarbazides and allied compounds in the light of their antifertility activities has been presented. Giving aim and object, preparations, properties, yield and analytical data for structure determinations regarding following compounds have been described (1) Flavanone thiosemicarbazone (2) 6-Methyl flavanone thiosemicarbazone (3) 4-Chloro flavanone thiosemicarbazone (4) 6-Methyl 4 -Chloro flavanone thiosemicarbazone. (5) 4-Methoxy flavanone, 4-methyl flavanone thiosemicarbazone (6) Flavone thiosemicarbazone. (7) 6*-Methyl flavone thiosemicarbazone. (8) 4-Chloro flavone thiosemicarbozone. (9) 4-Chloro, 6* methyl flavone thiosemicarbazone. (10) 4-methoxy, 8'-bromo flavanone thiosemicarbazone. (11) 4-Methoxy, 6 methyl 8 bromoflavanone thiosemicarbazone. IR spectra of the compounds have been interpreted to establish the structures. Proposal regarding of antifertility and biological activities has been made.
