Three Component Condensation: Synthesis and Chracterization of Bioactive 4-Substituted Aryl Pyrimidinones and Pyrimidinethiones

A series of some novel 4-aryl substituted pyrimidine(1H)-2-one and its thio analogue pyrimidine(1H)-2-thione have been synthesized in appreciable yield by three component condensation of urea/thiourea, ethylacetoacetate and appropriate aromatic aldehydes in alcoholic medium in presence of catalytic amount of acid. The structure of newly synthesized compounds have been confirmed by physicochemical as well as spectral i.e. IR and NMR (¹H &13C) studies.
