ABSTRACT:

The K-values of representative cluster chemical species of p2, p3, and p4 elements have been calculated. A remarkable correlation between the K-values and the cluster geometries is discerned. This is a clear verification that the main driving force underlying cluster formation in these chemical species is the fulfilment of the octet rule.
