ABSTRACT:

2-Hydroxy acetophenones 1 are treated with 3-furyl-2-yl-1-phenyl-1H- pyrazol-4 –carboxaldehyde 2 to get (2-hydroxy phenyl)-3(3-furyl-2-yl-1-Phenyl -1H- pyrazol -4-yl)-2-propen-1-ones 3. Compound 3 when treated with hydrazine hydrate gave 5(3-furyl-2-yl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol -4-yl)-3-(2-hydroxy phenyl)-4,5-dihydro-pyrazolines 4. Compound 3 when treated with catalytic amount of iodine in DMSO to get 2(3-furyl-2-yl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl) chromones 5 and with CuCl2 in DMSO to get 2(3-furyl-2-yl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-3-chloro chromones 6. Products obtained are characterized by IR, 1HNMR and mass spectra. Some of the compounds 5 are screened for their antimicrobial activity.
