Synthesis of Some New Biologically Active 2-[(6/-Substituted Phenyl-2/-Arylideno Substituted Phenyl) Pyrimidine] Pyrroles

Some new pyrrole derivatives were synthesized by reacting corresponding benzylidene acetyl pyrrole with guanidine carbonate followed by condensing the 2-[(4/-substituted phenyl-6/-amino) pyrimidine] pyrroles 3 (a-m) with different aromatic aldehydes to give 2-[(4/-substituted phenyl-6/-arylidene substituted phenyl) pyrimidine] pyrroles 4 (a- m). Their IR, 1H NMR and elemental analysis were in accordance with assigned structures. The antimicrobial screening of these compounds revealed that the presence of pyrrole and pyrimidine nucleus in the molecule resulted in enhanced antimicrobial activity.
