Synthesis and Microbial Studies of 2-[(3′-Trifluoromethylphenyl)Amino]-3-[N1-(Substituted Benzothiazolyl)Carbonyl] Pyridines

2-[(3'-Trifluoromethylphenyl)amino]-3-[N1-(substitutedbenzothiazolyl)carbonyl] pyridines Va-m have been synthesized from IIa-m and IV. The intermediates 2-amino substituted benzothiazoles IIa-m obtained by cyclization of substituted aniline I with ammonium thiocynate while 2-[(3'-trifluoromethylphenyl)amino]pyridine-3-carbonylchloride IV also prepared from 2-[(3'-trifluoromethylphenyl)amino] pyridine-3-carboxylic acid III. The synthesized new compounds have been confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis, IR and 1H-NMR spectral data. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of all the synthesized compounds have been screened. The result of microbial activity was found satisfactory.
