ABSTRACT:

Mixed ligand complexes of the type Ru(L)Cl(CO)(L1)2, Ru(L)Cl(CO)(L2)2, Ru(L)Cl(CO)(L3), Ru(L)Cl(CO)(L4), Ru(L)Cl(CO)(L5) H2O, Ru(L)2(L1)2, Ru(L)2(L2)2, Ru(L)2(L6)2 and Ru(L)2(L7)2.Where L=2-mecapto-3-phenyl-4-quinazolinone(MPQH), L1=PPh3, L2=AsPh3, L3= o-phenanthroline, L4=bi-pyridine, L5=imidazole, L6=pyridine and L7=b-picoline; are prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental and thermal analysis, electronic and infrared spectral studies, conductivities and magnetic susceptibility measurements. A study of electronic spectra gave evidence about complexation. Shifting in the characteristic infrared absorption bands of the free ligands on complexation indicates the nature of bonding. Thermal data revealed the presence and absence of coordinated water molecule. The molar conductive values in DMF are indicative of non-electrolytic behavior for these complexes.
