ABSTRACT:

New anils (IIa–j) are synthesized in excellent yield by condensation of furfuraldehyde with various substituted aromatic amines. These heterocyclic anils on cyclisation with mercapto acetic acid affords corresponding 4-thiazolidinones (III a – d). The synthesized compounds are identified on the basis of spectral and elemental analysis.
