ABSTRACT:

2-hydroxy-3 nitro-5-chloro-1-(a-substituted phenyl imino) ethyl benzene (IIa-j) when refluxed in DMSO medium in presence of 2,3 drops of concentrated H2SO4 gives N-substituted phenyl benzisoxazolines (IIIa-j). The structure was confirmed on the basis of chemical and spectral data.
