ABSTRACT:

The catalytic hydrogen current of Fe(II)-xanthate at mercury electrode using potassium benzyl, potassium butyl and sodium isopropyl xanthates in 0.4 M NH4Cl in pH 6.2-6.5 is used for the analysis of metal ion in water, agricultural and pharmaceutical samples. The method developed is highly sensitive with less interferences compared to all other polarographic methods reported so far. A mechanism of these currents based on d.c. polarographic and cyclic voltammetric results is also suggested.
