Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of 2-Amino-4-(2′-Furyl)-6- (Substituted Phenyl)-Pyrimidine and Its Pyrimidinone Derivatives

ABSTRACT:

Some new 2-amino-4-(2'-fury1)6-(substituted phenyl) pyrimidine (Iia-f) have been synthesized by action of Guanidine Nitrate on 1-fury1-3-(substituted phenyl)-2-propene-1-one(Ia-f). The title compound (Iia-f) were further treated with nitrous acid to afford 4-(2'-furyl)-6-(substituted phenyl)-2-(l-H) pyrimidinone (IIIa-f). All these newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by spectroscopic data and also screened for antimicrobial activity.
