ABSTRACT:

Synthesis of psychopharmacological active complexes of divalent Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) with 7-chloro-1,3-dihydro-5-phenyl-2H-1,4- benzodiazepin-2-one-4-oxide having M2L2X2 stoichiometries have been reported. (Where X = Cl-, NO-3 and CH3COO-). Characterization have been done on the basis of elemental analysis, conductivity, magnetic, I.R. and electronic spectral studies. Neuropharmacological studies of the complexes on the mice reports these complexes as more effective in taming and hypnotic activities and possessing much higher toxicity as compared to 7-chloro-1, 3-dihydro-5-phenyl-2H-1, 4-benzodiazepin-2-one-4-oxide.
