Synthesis and Structural Behaviour of Co(Ii) Complexes With Bidentate Schiff Base Ligands

ABSTRACT:

Complexes of Co(II) with Schiff bases, furfurlidene-m-phenylene diamine (FDMPDA) and furfurlidene-o-phenylene diamine (FDOPDA) have been synthesised. Six complexes of Co(II), viz. [Co(Fdopda)2Cl2], [Co(Fdopda)2(NO3)2], [Co(Fdopda)2(CH3COO)2], Co(Fdmpda)2(NO3)2], [Co(Fdmpda)2Cl2] and [Co(Fdmpda)2(CH3COO)2] have been characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic moments, electronic and 1H nmr spectra. Coordination through azomethine nitrogen and oxygen of furan ring have been proposed.
