ABSTRACT:

Some dioxygen complexes of zirconium (IV). tin (IV) and lead(ll) containing various monodentate, bidentate and tridentate auxiliary ligands have been systnesized. The complexes characterized were [Zr(O)(O2)2 C5 H5 N. H2O], [Zr(O) (O2)22 OPPh3] [Sn(O2)(c9 H6 NO)2], [Sn(O2)2. (CH2)2 (NH2)2], [Pb(O2) (C5 H5N)2 NO3], [Pb(O2) (C8 H6 NOH)], [Pb(O2) (det) NO3] and [Pb(O2) (C5 H4 NCOOH)NO3.H2O] . The peroxo complex of Zr(IV) containing monodentate ligands were found to oxidize trans-stilbene to trans-stilbene oxide under stoichiometric condfcons. The organoperano complexes of tin and lead were inert towards oxidation reactions.
