ABSTRACT:

A series of 12 new complexes of dioxouranium (VI) with two schiff base ligands viz 2 N-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxy benzaiidene) amino pyridine (MHBAPy) and 2N-(Salicylidene) aminopyrkfine (SAPy) were prepared in non aqueous media having the general composition UO2X2.2L(X=N03, Br, I, NCS and CH3COO) or U02 (CIO4)24L (L=MHBAP or SAPy) and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, electrical conductance, IR and electronic spectral studies. The X-ray diffraction studies of one of the complex has been done successfully and reported. The probable coordination number of these complexes has tentatively been assigned as 6 or 8 depending upon the nature of anions.
