ABSTRACT:

Five compounds of ferrocene derivatives (Ferrocenylmethyl) trimethylammonium iodide, (Ferrocenylmethyl) triphenylphosphonium iodide. Ferrocenylmethanol, Ferrocenyl (phenyl) (thienyl)-methanol and Ferrocene-1.1'-diyl bis-diphenylmethanol were tested in vitro as antimicrobial agents. Disc diffusion and serial dilution methods were followed to perform the antimicrobial screening. Among the listed compounds tested, four were found active against various pathogenic organisms. The maximum antibacterial activity was shown by (Ferrocenylmethyl) triphenyl phosphonium iodide. The minimum inhibitory concentrations were found 4(μg/ml and 4μg/ml against Bacillus subtilisanti Shigella dysenteria, respectively by serial dilution method of this compound.
