ABSTRACT:

4-hydroxyquinolino-[1,2-b]-4-oxoquinazoline (HQOQ) used as coupling component was pre-pared by the condensation of 2-methyl-3,1,4-benzoxazone with anthranilic acid giving 2-methyl-3-{1 -carboxy phenyl]-4-oxoquinazoline followed by ring closure. Some new azo dyes were prepared by coupling HQOQ with various diazo components. The synthetic compounds were characterised by elemental analysis and spectral analysis. The dyeing properties on various textile fabncs were investigated.
