ABSTRACT:

The importance of Schiff base as a ligand is very well documented in the literature. Transition metal complexes of differently substituted Schiff base finds application in laboratories and as a antifungal reagent Iron (III) complexes of bidentate schiff bases was synthesized and investigated for their spectral properties. The Schiff bases derived from 2-Hydroxyl-1-naphthaldehyde with anthranilic acid, o-toluidine, p-toluidine, and aniline were prepared by condensation. The crystalline metal complexes were isolated using alcoholic medium and analytical parameters determined after recrystallisation. The metal ligand stoichiometry was arrived as 1:6 for all the Fe(lll) complexes. The structural diagnosis was inferred from various spectral measurements. The data was well supported by magnetic susceptibility measurements at room temperature.
