ABSTRACT:

Oxovanadium( IV) complexes with 4-salicylidene-amino-3,5-dimercapto-1,2,4-triazoles(L) have been prepared in an ethanolic medium. These complexes analyse for the stoichiometry of the type VO. L. The magnetic moments at room temperature fall in the range of 1.29 - 1.42 B.M. These values are tower than the expected spin only value, may be due to super exchange through oxygen. The ligand field and NSH parameters have been calculated by using electronic spectra. The DT/DQ for these complexes is in the range of 0.32-0.34, suggesting moderate distortion from tie normal symmetry. These data suggest that the complexes may have dimeric structure with phenoxide bridges.
