Abstract:

The optimization of liquid - liquid extraction and the determination of trace metals in Saudi Arabian Petroleum and Petroleum Products have been fully investigated. Metal free base oil have been used in the optimization study of different extracting parameters such as nitric acid concentration, nitric acid volume, weight of sample, and volume of xylene. The best compromized condition have been used for the determination of Pb, Fe, Cu, Ni, Cd, Co and Zn in different Saudi Arabian crude oil (Arab berri, Arab heavy, Arab medium, and Arab light) as well as in some petroleum product such as aviation turbine oil, motor gasoline, and diesel fuel oil. The method proven to be sensitive, and accurate for the determination of trace metals in comparison toother techniques.
