Abstract:

Various electrochemical processes are of great utility in polymer synthesis1-5. The electrogeneration of superoxide in situ could take place in an undivided cell eq (i) using carbon anode sod mercury pool as cathode*. O2+ e = O2- (i) The ton so generated oxdises the carbon of the electrode eq (ii) liberating four electron* which induce polymerization via radical anion yielding the desired polymers. C + O2 - = CO3-2 + 4 e (ii) In the present communication the synthesis of polymers e.g. polypyrrole, potythiophen, etc has been taken up utilizing the role of superoxide in fuel cell
