Abstract:
Conductance of binary oxides like ZnO-Fe2O3 was studied for different Zn/Fe ratio. Lower percentages of either Zn ions added to Fe2O3 or Fe ions added to ZnO matrix increase the n-type character of the host oxide. Mixing in higher ratios shows ferrite structures as detected by XRD analysis. A maximum in conductivity was traced at 50 at % Fe ions due to reduction of Fe+2/Fe+3 ratio on the octahedral sites by which conduction in ferrites proceeds.
