Abstract:
PAN, 1-(2-pyridylzo)-2- naphthol and PAR, 4-<2 pyridylazo)-resorcinol) form 1:2 red coloured complexes with lead in aqueous phase. Photometric parameters, viz, Xmax molar absorption coefficient, ( [ 1 mol-1 cm-1); specific absorptivity, a (ml g-1 cm-1); Sandell's sersitvity, S (ng cm-1) and conditional stability constant K* (12 moI-2) of the lead complexes at optimum pH are 550 nm and 515 nm; 2.112x10* and 3.107 x104; 0.102 and 0.149; 9.813 and 6.670 and 1.669x107 and 6.438 x 108 respectively. Beer's law is valid from 12 to 40 μM and 8 to 40 μM of lead for the two systems.
